Is your diet truly Gluten-free?

Are you one of the millions of Americans with food sensitivities or allergies? Sticking with a diet free of common allergens, such as gluten, lactose and sugar is a reality that many people commit to, in order to avoid symptoms ranging from discomfort and inflammation, to more severe such as intestinal damage, malnutrition and osteoporosis.

Did you know that many commercially available medications and supplements contain gluten, sugar and lactose? If you’re currently following a gluten-free, lactose-free, or sugar-free diet but still have symptoms, your medications and supplements may be to blame. We are happy to offer custom-made medications free of these ingredients. And as a PCAB-accredited pharmacy, we follow the strictest guidelines to ensure safety, including potential cross contamination, and efficacy.

Celiac Disease

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder where the ingestion of gluten causes damage in the small intestine. It is estimated that 2.5 million Americans are undiagnosed with celiac disease. Left undiagnosed and untreated, it can lead to complications including:

  • Lactose intolerance
  • Anemia
  • Osteoporosis
  • Mineral and vitamin deficiency
  • GI cancers
  • Pancreatic insufficiency
  • Migraines
  • Dementia

So far, the main treatment for celiac disease is following a strict gluten-free diet, which means that patients not only have to be careful with foods, but anything else that is ingested, such as medications and supplements.

Dye-free, Soy-free, Vegan, and More

Because we have the ability to make customized medications based on the patient’s needs, we can also cater to patients with other sensitivities. For instance, children affected by Autism sometimes see worsening of symptoms by certain ingredients found in medicines and food such as dyes, casein, soy and heavy metals. This is why it’s important to check both active and inactive ingredients in medications and supplements, or compound the child’s medication, to ensure that these ingredients are avoided.

We also offer vegan options for patients who request it.
